It’s tradition – I suppose coming from the UK, its hard to really imagine – but the US have a long history of sticking famous faces on stamps. A form of recognition, like an MBE or Knighthood. I think.
So while you’ve slept restlessly for the past 2 years, realising that Steve Jobs isn’t on a stamp. Don’t worry. He is now (or set to be).
According to a leaked report by the Washington Post, we can finally take a breath, as Steve Jobs will be immortalised in stamp form in the USA during 2015. Printed on a line of collectable postage stamps, Jobs will be honoured alongside Rudolph the Red nose Reindeer and Barrack Obama. A fitting combination for one of the world’s greatest innovators.
Not exactly a philanthropist (far from it) , Jobs joins the likes of Abraham Lincoln – I’d like to think that Jobs has given back. He’s improved the lives of everyone around the world through his products and continues to stand as a symbol of innovation. That’s something.
Now he’ll be remembered, ironically in a form that is completely against the mantra of email. But there’s good news… We’ve heard the Steve Jobs stamp will be 20% thinner, 30% lighter and 50% faster!
